Nonprofit Connect's signature institutes are multi-day workshops that provide in-depth coaching from local topic experts. Institutes create an interruption-free environment to build structure for success and provide invaluable connection to a group of peers.

Executive Director Institute (EDI)

  • Exclusively for: Executive Directors of nonprofit organizations
  • Focus: Comprehensive leadership development covering topics such as nonprofit trends, leadership styles, operations management, board governance, strategic planning, resource generation & fundraising, marketing & communications, human resources, and work/life balance.
  • Format: 6-month learning opportunity
  • Capacity: 15 participants
  • Frequency: Offered once a year (January - June)
  • Includes: Lunch and snacks

Mission Marketing Institute (MMI)

  • Focus: Deep dive into key marketing and communications strategies for nonprofits.
  • Content: Covers communication strategy, website design & SEO, data analytics, social media & video strategy, email marketing, media relations, and successful case studies.
  • Facilitators: Features nonprofit experts and experienced business leaders.
  • Format: Three weekly sessions (9:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
  • Capacity: 20 participants
  • Eligibility: Must be a paid employee of a nonprofit organization.
  • Includes: Lunch and snacks
  • Frequency: Offered twice a year.

Volunteer Management Institute (VMI)

  • Focus: Comprehensive training for nonprofit professionals involved in volunteer management.
  • Content: Covers recruitment, retention, recognition, trends, program design, risk management, training, and supervision.
  • Facilitators: Presented by local experts in volunteer management.
  • Format: Two and a half days (consecutive)
  • Capacity: 24 participants
  • Eligibility: Open to nonprofit professionals in the practice of volunteer management.
  • Includes: Lunch and snacks
  • Frequency: Offered twice per calendar year.

 

Nonprofit Managers Institute (NMI) | Virtual

  • Focus: Leadership development for current nonprofit supervisors.
  • Content: Covers three key aspects of leadership: Personal/Professional, People, and Planning.
  • Facilitators: Features nonprofit experts and experienced business leaders.
  • Format: 6 virtual sessions (9:00 AM - Noon)
  • Capacity: 24 participants
  • Eligibility: Open to current nonprofit supervisors who manage a team of two or more.
  • Frequency: Offered once per calendar year.

Nonprofit Managers Institute (NMI) | In-person

  • Focus: Leadership development for current nonprofit supervisors.
  • Content: Covers three key aspects of leadership: Personal/Professional, People, and Planning.
  • Facilitators: Features nonprofit experts and experienced business leaders.
  • Format: Three full-day sessions
  • Capacity: 15 participants
  • Eligibility: Participants must be in a nonprofit organization's paid managerial/supervisory position and lead a team of two or more.
  • Includes: Lunch and snacks
  • Frequency: Offered once per calendar year.

Nonprofit Financial Institute (NFI)

  • Format: Two and a half day session
  • Focus: Develops essential financial skills for nonprofit leaders and board members.
  • Content: Covers basic financial terms, financial statement analysis, budget & grant management, and storytelling with financial data.
  • Capacity: 15 participant
  • Includes: Lunch and snacks
  • Frequency: Offered once per calendar year.
